Postdoctoral Research Fellow

A three year postdoctoral research fellow position is available to use single unit recording, DREADDs and behavioural techniques to understand how the brain represents space.

The Wood/Dudchenko lab in the Centre for Cognitive and Neural Systems is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellow to assess the circuitry underlying hippocampal place cell firing. The project will involve tetrode recordings from spatial cells in the hippocampus, medial entorhinal cortex and subiculum, combined with manipulations of the head direction cell system in rodents.  Experience with stereotaxic surgery is essential, and experience with single-unit electrophysiology is desirable. The post is full time and fixed term for up to 36 months, and the starting date is negotiable from December 1st.

For informal enquiries please contact Emma Wood (emma.wood@ed.ac.uk) or Paul Dudchenko (p.a.dudchenko@stir.ac.uk). To apply, please search on the University of Edinburgh jobs website for vacancy ref 037645. The closing date for applications is 7 November 2016.
